2. Esperanza De Vida (Hope Of Life)

Provides medical supplies for breast cancer patients, medical equipment for breast cancer patients and humanitarian aid to be used by those in need in hospitals and clinics in Guatemala that treat cancer and other degenerative diseases. The hospitals and clinics provide much needed medical care to many of the needy and disadvantaged people of their areas; charging only the minimum amount, or in most cases nothing, for fees needed to provide the medical care. The regions they serve are some of the over twenty targeted areas by the World Health Organization to combat various degenerative diseases. Some diseases are spreading at epidemic rates. The lack of properly equipped medical facilities and medical supplies further contributes to the ongoing challenge of saving lives. Esperanza De Vida distributes medical supplies to 5 hospitals in the Zacapa Region that treat approximately 60,000 diabetics, 23,000 cancer patients and 25,000 children yearly.

Grants provided by the Breast Cancer Research and Assistance Fund help the Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation provide ongoing research and assistance to breast cancer patients whose needs would otherwise go unmet. Our partnership facilitates exceptional patient care in a professional and caring environment using state of the art technology and treatment, including the purchase of a Mammotome breast biopsy vacuum system to help diagnose breast abnormalities with a high degree of accuracy. BCRAF is committed to supporting MMMCF in its fight against breast cancer through support and educational programs for cancer victims and their families, promoting effective healthcare initiatives, providing assistance to breast cancer patients who need breast cancer screening, funding research projects, and continually improving treatments, equipment, and technology to aid in the fight.

Getting timely mammograms is important. These noninvasive screening tests can detect cancer even before a lump can be felt. Finding breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages is key to a successful outcome.
When it comes time for your next breast cancer screening, you don’t have to travel far from home. Maui Memorial Medical Center (MMMC) offers high-quality screening mammograms.
Here are some other reasons to choose MMMC for your next mammogram.

“We don’t know what actually ignited the fires, but we were made aware in advance by the National Weather Service that we were in a red flag situation — so that’s dry conditions for a long time, so the fuel, the trees and everything, was dry,”

No cause for the fire has been determined, but experts said one possibility was that active power lines that fell in high winds ignited the wildfire that ultimately spread to Lahaina, a coastal town of 13,000 in western Maui that was leveled.22 hours ago

Breast Cancer Research and Assistance Fund spent many hours at the Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation in the early years of the Foundation helping establish the Foundation. We need a lot of help today to help rebuild Lahaina and the Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation.
